The Music Together Mission
To bring the highest-quality music and movement experiences to your child—and children everywhere— and to involve the adults who love them in the magical process of development that only music can provide.
Let’s make Beautiful Music Together!
Come and join us at Le Jardin Musical,
the only accredited provider of Music Together® on the south shore of Montreal!
The classes are taught by a certified music teacher trained in childhood music education and licensed to teach the Music Together® curriculum.
The Music Together Philosophy
Many people mistakenly believe that only a talented few are musical and the rest of us are doomed to sing out of tune and dance with two left feet. But the truth is, we are all born musical. In a supportive environment, children learn to dance and sing as naturally as they learn to walk and talk . This knowledge helped us develop a four-point philosophy that guides the Music Together program to this day.
Our Basic Philosophic Principles
- All children are musical.
- All children can achieve basic music competence—the ability to sing in tune and move with accurate rhythm.
- The participation and modeling of parents and caregivers—regardless of their musical ability—are essential to a child’s musical growth.
- Young children’s musical growth occurs best in a playful, musically rich, and developmentally appropriate setting.
When you’re a parent, you want to give your young child the very best. You want to expose them to every possible opportunity to learn and grow. At Music Together, this starts with creating a bond through music. Since 1987, we’ve introduced millions of children, parents, and teachers to the joys of music-making and the powerful benefits of having music in their lives.
Today, it’s common for us to only listen to music rather than create it ourselves. But actively making music is so important for children’s music and overall development. That’s why Music Together has never been more essential. Young children learn best through active exploration and live, meaningful interaction with the grownups they love. So we say, take out the earbuds and pick up the instrument we were all given at birth—ourselves!
Isn't my child too young to learn music ?
Never too young, never too old to learn music ! Wiggling, singing, and laughing with your child is so much fun—it’s easy to forget how much learning is taking place! That’s because music learning and early childhood go hand in hand. Our research-based, developmentally appropriate, and internationally recognized music program develops basic music skills, such as singing in tune and moving with accurate rhythm. It also nurtures creativity, self-expression, and confidence and supports social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Because these benefits build over time, children enjoy the fullest growth in each of these areas when they participate in Music Together classes as consistently as possible during early childhood.
Can both parents come to attend the class? Can my son's grand parents come instead?
Of course! Not only does Music Learning Support All Learning®—it offers the opportunity to join a community where everybody is welcome. Parents, caregivers, teachers, children—everyone benefits from Music Together classes. It’s all about shared experiences that touch the heart and bring us closer together, both in class and at home. It’s a warm, inviting environment where you can relax or get energized and be a part of something bigger than yourself.
Can we join even if we don't speak english at home?
Of course! Your family will benefit from Music Together, even if English is not your first language. That’s because all cultures share the common language of music and movement. Our rich, diverse music includes a mix of original songs and traditional tunes from the folk, jazz, and world-music traditions. From American to African, Spanish to Japanese, families are exposed to a wide variety of international musical styles designed to provide engaging experiences of rhythm, song, culture, and community from around the world.
